Cochrane Care Home in Johnstone had more than one reason to celebrate yesterday when we presented them with a Playlist for Life plaque.

At their award ceremony they told the story of the first resident they worked with to create a playlist. As they worked with him and his family, they discovered his love for Elvis Presley.

Re-introducing him to the soundtrack of his life and the many Elvis songs it contained sparked many beautiful memories, giving him and his wife the chance to listen to the music that had been so special them.

Staff immediately noticed a change in his mood and began to use the music when he needed it most. It also provided real comfort to his wife knowing he was happy and content. She expressed particular thanks to the care home for all their wonderful care and was delighted to be part of their Playlist family.

We always leave our certified follow-up visits inspired by the innovative ways Playlist for Life is being used and the stories we hear.

Yesterday was doubly special as we were delighted to learn that during their Playlist journey the happy couple renewed their wedding vows, celebrating 51 years together.

Congratulations!
