What is the Playlist for Life app?

It is a fun, easy-to-use service that runs on a mobile phone or tablet. The app:
  • guides you to music that holds special memories for you;
  • makes it easy to create your own Playlist for Life;
  • allows you to create mini-playlists associated with your memories, moods, or activities;
  • allows you to listen to your playlists whenever and wherever you want.

What will I need to be able to use the app?

You will need:
  • an iPhone or iPad connected to the internet;
  • an internet connection, either via your phone provider or via wi-fi / broadband.

How much will the app cost?

The Playlist For Life app will be free to download. You will need a Spotify Premium account in order to use the app. A premium account with Spotify currently costs £9.99 per month but Spotify regularly offer a free trial for a month so you can see if you like it. More information here:
Will my favourite songs be available on the app?

The app uses the Spotify music service as its music provider. Spotify has over 30 million songs in its database so, while we can’t give you a cast-iron guarantee about a particular song, the chances are high that your special songs will be available.

We want Playlist For Life to be an enjoyable process whether it's done through an app or by using pen, paper and CDs. So we are designing the Playlist For Life app to be as simple, fun and engaging as possible for people with dementia and their loved ones and carers. The app itself will guide you through the process of finding music and creating playlists. And we will be providing guides and videos on this website that will offer more support.
