We were delighted to join the Abbeyfield Society at their head office in St Albans last week to celebrate the success of their ‘Making Music Project’.  The project, funded by The People’s Postcode Trust enabled Playlist for Life to deliver training across 19 of its care homes during 2017.

Playlist for Life was an integral part of the project and has culminated in 16 care homes being awarded certified status. During the award ceremony we heard the innovative ways the care homes have integrated personal music into the everyday care of residents living with dementia. Each care home took a different approach to implementing the plan developed at the training, highlighting how the intervention can be tailored to the needs of the person.

April Dobson, Head of Dementia Innovation at Abbeyfield, and project lead said: “The project has really been such a success and, in conjunction with the People’s Postcode Trust and Playlist for Life, we have been able to use music to connect with people living with the condition.”

All homes have plans to upskill their entire workforce in-line with our training, and will hold workshops for family members so that all residents will have access to the soundtrack of their life. We wish them every success and will continue to work in partnership to keep this going into the future.
