How melodies and memories gave Helen inspiration

Helen Baxter first encountered the power of personal music for people with dementia after a friend told her about how music brought back elements of his wife’s personality from before her dementia diagnosis.

At the time, Helen knew little about the positive effects of personalised music. However, shortly after speaking with her friend she attended a talk hosted by Playlist for Life volunteer Kate Boyce. Kate shared a powerful video of Sally Magnusson speaking about the power music had for her mother, who lived with dementia.

The talk inspired Helen, who decided she wanted to share Playlist for Life’s message. She has incorporated Playlist for Life into a book she has written, Melodies and Memories.
