We are thrilled to have the support of Merchants House Glasgow following a Valedictory Dinner in which we were selected as the outgoing Lord Dean of Guild Andrew McFarlane’s chosen charity.
Our Vice President Andy Lowndes gave a speech to guests about the impact of Playlist for Life which led to £4,000 in donations which will go directly toward supporting more people living with dementia.
We are also grateful to the outgoing Lord Dean of Guild Andrew McFarlane for sharing his personal playlist and memories it holds for him. Check it out below.

Go West, Pet Shop Boys
One of the Pet Shop Boys’ tunes played at Scotstoun Stadium when Glasgow Warriors score. We are season ticket holders at Warriors and also saw the Pet Shop Boys in Glasgow a number of years ago.

Good Vibrations, Beach Boys
On a number of occasions we saw in the New Year in California. Driving along the coast with rollers coming in and then a Beach Boys song was played on the radio – so appropriate. We also saw the Beach Boys (in various iterations) on a number of occasions including in Miami.

Don’t Cry for me Argentina, Julie Covington
I recall Julie Covington from her appearance in the TV show Rock Follies in the 1970s. Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s concept album for Evita was just so different when it came out. (My student days) Much later we saw the Casa Rosada and Eva Peron’s Grave during a visit to Buenos Aires.

Let’s Hang On, Franki Valli and the Four Seasons
We saw the show Jersey Boys in San Francisco and then saw Franki Valli in Glasgow. It’s very difficult to choose only one of his songs.

Sweet Caroline, Neil Diamond
Saw him in Glasgow when a friend had tickets they could not use. Great showman. This song was the “singalong” for the crowd at the Rugby Sevens when the Commonwealth Games were in Glasgow. Des Clarke filled the gaps between games. A great occasion. Later worked with Des when he hosted the Herald Property Awards for Scotland and I chaired the judging panel.
