Eddie, previous Kiltwalk fundraiser, said:
“Playlist for Life is a fantastic approach to helping people dealing with dementia.
“My own mother had dementia in her latter years, and while the family knew she enjoyed a sing-song along with her fellow residents in the care home, we didn’t realise the significance of musical memories at that time.
“The more resources this charity can have to promote and extend its work in all communities, the better.”
Why walk for playlist for life?
Playlist for Life is leading music and dementia charity in the UK. We have helped countless families over our 10 years through a network of community Help Points and many more through the over 8,000 trained health and care professionals.
We rely on generous donations to continue providing vital and free support to people living with dementia.
Our resources are always free to anyone who needs them, with a cost to us of £1 to provide a family with a resource pack.
And while £1 may not seem like a big cost on paper, there are currently 900,000 people living with dementia in the UK which means which means it would cost us more than £900,000 to provide every person living with dementia in the UK with resources to help create a personalised playlist.
"Playlist for Life is probably one of the the very few positive things that has happened in my husband’s life since his dementia took over."
– Cathy, lived experience of dementia
